Hello friends,
Dougal here! Today I had a chin wag and some carrots with Fudge. It proved quite difficult to keep her awake, she does like a snooze and she talks a bit slow- it’s probably her age! So I had to be very patient. Fudge is the queen of being patient!
Fudge told me she is one of the first ponies most new leaders are given when they come to Diamond. Who remembers leading Fudge the first time you were given a horse in a lesson? I bet she would love to hear your stories…
Once upon a time…Fudge used to be a skewbald! As she has gone grey over the years, her colouring has nearly faded all into one shade. Don’t worry Fudge- it happens to us all at some point. It’s a sign of wisdom and age is just a number and in these lockdown times there is quite a few ladies finding grey is their eau natural.
My favourite thing I learnt about Fudge today is that she was once a rebel pony! In junior lessons she was known as a bit of a speed demon when it came to trotting or cantering to the back of the ride. She still tries to give Jaimee our apprentice a run for her money. Fudge thinks it’s the best way for her to learn and to make sure she is concentrating.
Fudge is enjoying her twilight years and has been participating in Hippotheraphy along with other mature residents Pepsi and Mickey. I found her today hanging out in the corner of the field with Pepsi, Mickey Cushla and Splash. They were discussing Pepsi’s newest yoga move which none else can do. Mickey attempted it but got stuck halfway and they had to help him up.
Fudge said she is looking forward to seeing you all soon and hopes you are all keeping safe and well.
Bye for now, love Dougal.
Stay tuned for my next Dougal dines with…
