Fundraising
Following an enforced break due to COVID-19 the Santa Sleigh door to door collections were back on for Christmas. Ten people from Diamond supported the Carshalton Park Rotary collection and we received a donation of £500. A similar event organised by Banstead Rotary resulted in a donation of £600.
We recently received a cheque for £500 from the George Price Masonic Lodge, based in Croydon. Two representatives from the Lodge, Alan Butler, Master and Chris Day, Secretary visited Diamond to present
the cheque and enjoyed a tour of the centre and were able to meet a group of our riders and learn about the benefits of horse riding.
A substantial award from the London Borough of Sutton Neighbourhood Fund has been received towards the cost of replacing the roofs on the Hay Barn and Tractor Garage plus some remedial work on the Carriage Garage. This is much needed work to prevent leaks as the roofs are deteriorating with age. The work will take place in August – hopefully in dry, sunny weather.
Our Fundraising Committee has been busy identifying opportunities to raise funds for Diamond and organising events. Here are some of the events planned for the next few months.
Saturday 30th April – The Quiz Night is on, hosted by the ever-popular Sandra Longley who has hosted Quiz Nights for us previously. The evening includes a fish ‘n chip supper (or alternative) and is always great fun. More details to follow.
Sunday 8th May – Banstead Rotary is organising a Charity Walk over a route of about 8.5 miles through attractive North Downs scenery and starts and finishes at Tattenham Corner on Epsom Downs. If you would like some fresh air and raise money for Diamond, please check the noticeboard or website for entry forms and more information on how to take part.
Sunday 15th May – London to Brighton Mini Rally. The London and Surrey Mini Owner’s Club (who sponsor Scoop) has invited us to have a stand in Brighton on Madeira Drive. If you are able to help with running the stand at the event, please get in touch.
Saturday 2nd July – We will have a stall at the Banstead Village Fair (12.00 – 17.00).
Sunday 3rd July – We will have a stall at the Belmont Festival (10.30 – 15.00).
It a long way off but please make a note – this year’s Autumn Fair is being held on Sunday 25th September (11.00 – 16.00).

We are always looking for new people to join the Fundraising Committee. You do not need any specific experience just an enthusiasm for raising funds.
