Well hello everyone – hope you are all keeping well and safe, we are all fine, the staff are looking after us very well but we do miss you all.
One advantage is I’m learning so much more about my colleagues during this lockdown – some good some bad but we are certainly getting to know each other over a graze.
Today we meet up with one of the ‘big boys’ Gucci, although he told me he often gets identified as a girl, I think it might be his name but I didn’t tell Gucci that, as he thinks it is because he has a long flowing beautiful mane – but don’t we all in these times – I think there is a touch of RuPaul going on there to be honest.
Gucci has nominated himself as chief aerobics instructor to help keep the horses fitness over lockdown. He told me a not to tell anyone else (but I trust you guys), the only reason he did this, was so he had a good excuse to not actually partake in the aerobics class. He is very good at wondering round the class making sure everyone puts 100% effort in, and is very patient with us. He doesn’t even shout when Delilah goes the wrong way and steps on someone’s hoof.
Like many he is missing watching his sport on the telly, he was very disappointed to hear about the RDA Nationals being cancelled especially as he know how much it means to the riders that enjoy taking part. I have told him, there will be other years and other opportunities and we have to think to the future. Pepsi showed him a window he can listen to the telly though. They don’t have sports on very often but when the mum inside takes the kids out for a walk the dad put Sky Sports on instantly. He tells me it’s only reruns at the moment but beggars can’t be choosers. You can often find Gucci watching the front door waiting for the kids to leave.
I must say Gucci is one of our most trusted member of the horse brigade, he is one of only two vaulting horses that we have at Diamond. He told me that’s real easy, you just walk round in circles while people stand on him. Not that much different to when riders sit really, but we better not tell the vaulter’s that as they have to do all the hard work!
Lots of love from everyone at Diamond and of course me Dougal – as you can see from the pic – still in the driving seat.
Take care and see ya next week.
