Amy has cerebral palsy which affects her legs and balance. When Amy first started at Diamond she needed lots of help from 2 side walkers and a leader to balance and move with the pony. As time went on, although Amy does not remember this, the ponies helped her to get stronger and have more balance on the horse and in everyday life.
Now when Amy is on a horse she enjoys the freedom it gives her to move around and be able to work with a horse to achieve different things. Amy usually rides in a Tuesday evening group ride with her instructor Penny. Amy’s favourite things to do are dressage competitions and to have fun dressing up and taking part in musical rides where the horses and riders enjoy the music and costumes.
Amy has competed at regional and national competitions and enjoys going to Hartpury. She regularly rides Alfie and Damian, Alfie enjoys all of the photographs and attention at Hartpury. She is looking forward to competing again when she can and meeting the new horses that might want to have a go at some competitions.
